A static e-ink display uses almost no power at all - the screen only draws current when the image actually changes, which is why an e-ink price tag can run for 7 to 10 years on one battery and a photo frame can hold a picture for months on a single charge.

FAQ
Does an e-ink screen use power when it's not changing?
Essentially none for the panel itself - it only draws current when the displayed image changes. Any front light, Wi-Fi radio, or touchscreen the device also has will still use power even while the panel is idle.
Is there a real e-ink phone you can buy?
Yes. The Hisense A9 and A9 Pro are full Android smartphones built around an E Ink display, sold through US carriers including AT&T and T-Mobile. The Light Phone 2 also uses E Ink, but deliberately strips out apps and a browser.
What's the difference between an E Ink monitor and an E Ink tablet like the reMarkable?
An E Ink monitor, like the Dasung Paperlike or Onyx Boox Mira, plugs into a separate computer as a display. An E Ink tablet like the reMarkable 2 is a standalone device built specifically around a pen for writing and sketching.
